Animal rights group protests researchers' convention in Minneapolis

About 60 people on behalf of the?Animal Rights Coalition protested a convention of animal researchers in downtown Minneapolis Sunday, claiming animal research is inhumane, reported the Pioneer Press.

The annual convention of the?American Association for Laboratory Animal Science at the Minneapolis Convention Center drew about 4,000 researchers, the newspaper said.

Some protesters dressed up as chickens, and others wore bunny ears or cow masks and gathered outside the convention center or at nearby intersections.

An AALAS representative said this was the first time in four years the convention drew protests.
